The source of truth, and the five rules that fall out of it

The calendar

The source of truth. Nothing is invented downstream of it, and every rendered asset traces back to a cell.

This is not a practice copy — open the real one. Every asset id is built from the cell that produced it (longform-2026W10-Tue-16x9: format, fiscal week, day, aspect). That id is the join, and an asset that cannot be traced back to a cell does not get published — enforced in code, not by habit.

What this means when you build

RuleWhy it is a rule and not a preference
Weeks are fiscal, not calendarA 4-4-5 year with a per-brand anchor is why one brand's week 27 lands in July and another's does not, with no branch in the code. Hardcode a date and you have forked the calendar.
Campaigns are placed declarativelyA start week and a beat count, never a hand-written list of weeks. Postponing is a one-line change — and the placement gate then requires the authored weeks to move with it, which is the check that catches a half-finished postponement.
Channels come from the brand packageAdding a channel is an edit to the brand's governance file, never a pipeline change. A pipeline that special-cases a brand is the bug.
Manual channels stay on the planA channel with a real audience and no publish API still gets its payload built, validated and reported as needing a human. A channel that silently disappears is not noticed for weeks.
The dirty set is minimalEdit one field and only the assets that field actually touched are stale. “Re-render everything” is always correct and always wrong.

What you can and cannot do here

You will not hold production credentials — not during selection, not on day one. Nothing reaches an audience without sign-off from the person accountable for the brand. Work travels as a change-set and a reviewable diff.
